Why are C, Q, and X excluded?

The letters c, q, and x are not word letters because their common pronunciations can already be represented using other Rainian Phonetica word letters.

C

The pronunciation of c can be represented by k or s:

  • Hard c → k
  • Soft c → s

Q

The pronunciations commonly represented by q can be represented by existing letters:

  • qukw
  • qk in words such as antique and unique

X

The common pronunciations of x can also be represented using existing letters:

  • xks, as in fox, box, and fix
  • xz in words such as xylophone

Because these sounds are already represented by other letters or letter combinations, c, q, and x are unnecessary as word letters.
