Redundant English Letters
The English letters c, q, and x are not used as Rainian Phonetica word letters because their common pronunciations can be represented by existing letters or letter combinations.
C
Hard c is represented by k.
Soft c is represented by s.
The name of the individual letter c is represented by sē.
Q
The qu combination is represented by kw.
A q pronounced as /k/ is represented by k.
The name of the individual letter q is represented by kyū.
X
The common /ks/ pronunciation is represented by ks.
When x has the sound represented by z, it is represented by z.
The name of the individual letter x is represented by eks.
This allows Rainian Phonetica to avoid redundant letters while retaining the sounds they represent.
